Hydrolyzed collagen: what is it? Collagen is a protein that forms the most important building block of our body. It ensures the unity and elasticity of connective tissues such as your skin, cartilage and bones. The majority of the body's own collagen, including bones, muscles and skin, consists of 'Type 1' collagen. Your body breaks down this collagen every day and new collagen is naturally produced by cells in your body tissue. As you get older, your body starts producing less of this natural collagen and therefore shows the first signs of aging. This process starts around the age of 25 and increases dramatically from the age of thirty. This results in wrinkles, reduction of muscle tissue, osteoporosis and cartilage wear. The collagen that we produce in our body is subdivided into 28 types. 90% of it consists of type 1. 'Hydrolyzed Collagen' from Niche4Health is type 1 collagen that is extracted from the skin of oxen and is identical to human collagen. "Hydrolyzed" means that it is enzymatically degraded, so that it is broken down into smaller chains of amino acids, so-called peptides. This makes it easier to digest and ensures rapid absorption by your body.

A sachet consists of 10 grams of hydrolyzed collagen and is sufficient for one daily portion. The collagen powder can be dissolved well in many different foods such as: tea, coffee, smoothies, fruit juices, yogurt and soup. The product itself has a neutral taste and can therefore be mixed with many other foods! Like many other drugs, hydrolyzed collagen has a certain incubation period. The results are limited in the first month of use. We recommend the following intake cycle: 25 days "on" and 5 days "off". The reason for this is actually very simple: your body gradually builds up a tolerance for the absorbed collagen. Just like with products such as sugar, caffeine and many others. If you stop taking collagen for 5 days after the 25-day cycle, you are basically 'resetting' your body for optimum intake during a new cycle. After a 5-day intake, your body loses the built-up tolerance, so that optimum results are possible when you continue your intake cycle!
